About Emily Bienz

I attended Mount Saint Mary's University for 4 years (2014-2018) and received a BS in biology with a minor in chemistry. Upon completion of my BS I began my PharmD. studies at Touro College of Pharmacy (2018-2022) where I recently graduated with Cum Laude honors (GPA: 3.71) and was a member of the Rho Chi honor society. Throughout my 4 years of pharmacy school I was successfully able to dedicate myself to both my studies and my various jobs. In the pharmacy world I have experience practicing as a community pharmacy technician (CPhT Certified 2017-2019), community pharmacy intern (2019-2020) and hospital pharmacy intern (2019-current). When the COVID-19 pandemic erupted I found my skills and passion for pharmacy was leading me towards the hospital pharmacy so I decided to take a break from the community world and immerse myself in the world of hospital pharmacy. In my experience as a hospital intern during the pandemic I received exposure to cases and disease states I thought only existed in textbooks. During my 3 years at SBUH I have been able to gain experience in a multiple of areas sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding, locating missing medications, drug information questions, AUC dosing to calculate the doses of various medications like amikacin and vancomycin, competent utilization of pharmacy automation (pyxis machines and carousels), vaccine administration, vaccine preparation and exposure to the Cerner MAR system. Prior to my hospital experience I worked at CVS as both a intern and technician where my responsibilities included cashiering, data entry, filling prescriptions, triaging insurance issues, prior authorizations, calling providers for refills, taking oral prescriptions, transferring prescriptions to other store, patient counseling and compounding non-sterile mixtures.
