About Emily Carroll

I have a passion for promoting healthy lifestyles, and believe that sport and recreation plays a vital role in providing opportunities for improving health outcomes in the community. My Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion) degree has provided me with a strong mix of practical skills and a vast knowledge base, with the experience to create supportive environments for communities to develop and thrive. As a hockey player for the past 19 years at club, state, national and international level, I have been able to gain a broad understanding of the value and context of sport in the community, and the challenges and opportunities facing community clubs. Additionally, my professional experience has allowed me to build a large knowledge base across a range of areas including Working With Children legislation, disability inclusion, and club governance best practice.My career to date has provided me with invaluable experience in planning, implementing and evaluating programs and events, including infrastructure projects and development programs, resulting in the engagement of a diverse range of groups, including people with disabilities, women, indigenous, culturally and linguistically diverse, seniors and children that would otherwise have not been possible. I am particularly passionate about creating opportunities for marginalised groups to participate in mainstream sport and recreation opportunities, and look forward to expanding my career in this area.
