About Emily Corcoran

Hi I’m Emily; I’m a front-end development student at the Turing School of Software and Design. My goal in the world of software engineering is to leverage my background as both a trained biological scientist and a computer networking educator to incorporate knowledge of learning and organic systems into the design of technological tools that improve human-computer interactions. In my spare time I enjoy pulling imaginative visions from the ethereal plane into corporeal form via the art of woodworking. Software engineering captivates me because, like woodworking, it involves the translation of structured thought into concrete form with the goal of meeting a specific need. For my entire life I have been enraptured by the landscape of information that we exist within and I have come to view computer programming as perhaps the ultimate medium for the sculpting of reality due to its proximity to raw information. I look forward to offering my perspective and reverence for structured thought to a dynamic, nurturing, and forward-leaning employment environment.
