Strategic Business Coach, Speaker, and Writer After a decade long career in higher education, Emily recently made a career transition away from the classroom and into the business world. As an active member of the community, Emily proudly serves as a Director in the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce, is an active member of the Downtown Brentwood Coalition and supports the Parent’s Club at her children’s school. Her background includes a Bachelor of Art in Spanish and a Bachelor of Art’s in Speech Communication from Arizona State University. She followed up her undergraduate education as an instructor at an elite language academy based in Granada, Spain where she introduced concepts of culture and English to graduate students transitioning from student life in Spain to that of a young professional in the United States. She completed her Master of Art’s from the University of the Pacific and completed her academic journey at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Doctorate of Philosophy in focused on Organizational Leadership and Administration. Emily is bilingual in English and Spanish. Her professional background includes faculty positions at institutions including the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of the Pacific, Delta College, CSU East Bay, and Los Medanos College. She has been a regularly published author in two technology publications and continues to work as a media and communication consultant at a mid-sized medical device technology research and development company. Her expertise in start-ups and businesses experiencing growth and change management include the City of Antioch, TecMed, Inc, Macha Sport, LLC and From Books to Brilliance. In the small business arena, Emily has served as the Director of Processes and Procedures for a mid-sized solar company, which included internal and external communication processes. Currently, Emily manages and runs a digital publication focused on elevating small businesses, non-profits, events, and community members. The publication includes video content to support written narratives, all while giving a voice and a face to businesses. She also continues to work as a Speaking Consultant. Emily has worked for nearly 2 decades helping students, small business owners, and sales professionals refine their art of speaking. Within her role as a speaker's coach, she is a speaker with the national organization Sandy Hook Promise. In both roles, Emily brings the art and science of the spoken word together - empowering students, adults, business owners and young professionals.
