About Emily Dickerson

I have always loved video games. Ever since I was a child, I would constantly find excuses and reasons to play video games. I got my first laptop at ten years old so I could write little stories on the pre-programmed document app and that is when I discovered online gaming. Like a lot of modern game enjoyers, I played flash games on Newgrounds and then graduated to Minecraft at the age of 11, immediately after it came out. It was a slippery, yet enjoyable, slope. I would spend all of my free time on Skype with my friends who were around the same age as me and would develop advanced communication and tactile skills at an incredibly young age. As a college student, I joined Alabama's first scholarship-based esports team, Montevallo Esports. I spent my freshman year playing for the secondary League of Legends team and quickly took on a leadership role as 'Public Relations Assistant'. As of 2022, I have stepped down from physically playing any games and now serve as UM Esports' PRA and team manager. Now, as I exceed expectations and choose a career, I want to be able to show my love for esports and my love for social media management all at one time.
