About Emily Fuller

I am a graduate research assistant at Virginia Tech in the Planning, Governance, and Globalization Program offered through the School of Public and International Affairs. My research interests include science communication, human dimensions of agriculture and natural resources, and producer and community engagement. My research qualitatively and quantitatively explores factors that construct archetypes, specifically what drives archetypal behaviors in agricultural contexts. I particularly value research that results in engaged scholarship. Previously, upon earning my Bachelor's and Master's in Agricultural Science and Education, I served as a secondary agriculture teacher. My practice was rooted in social constructivism and the experiential learning theory, naturally supported by the development of a pragmatic curriculum, specifically problem-centered inquiry and phenomenon-based learning. I also worked in various sectors of the agricultural industry in Northern California and Eastern Australia. Outside of academia, I raise cattle, invest in residential real estate, and am involved in managing my family’s Mexican restaurant.
