About Emily Govender

I have both the relevant experience and requisite skills to fulfil the requirements for this position. I have been teaching music since 2015 working with learners between the ages 3 to early 50s. Since 2016, I have held the position of Music and Drama Teacher at Berea West Preparatory School (South Africa), Al Najah Private School (Abu Dhabi) teaching learners from KG 1 to Year 5, and International Community School (Abu Dhabi) teaching learners from year 5 to 9. I have noticed in working with different ages groups that I have a passion similar to the education philosophy that your institution has, that is to bring out the unique talents of each student, by recognizing and nurturing their unique abilities. This is an extremely important philosophy to me which yields the best results and a strength that I have naturally gained. As an individual with a passion for music and drama, great creative sense and an ability to work in an environment conducive to learning arts, I am confident that I am the right candidate for this opportunity. I have always created and sustained a creative and expressive environment for my students and continuously contribute towards developing an authentic and vibrant environment for the performing arts. I have the ability to teach different instruments such as the; ukulele, recorder, keyboard, basic drumming, understanding the voice in terms of singing and speaking, working with a choir and have a practical method to teaching music theory. I have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills which will be of great advantage for school workshops and assemblies. I have a strong foundation in speech and drama, which has had a great impact in teaching music. From my previous experiences I am able to work on musical concerts by using my drama performance expertise to enhance all musical performances. My years of experience in teaching affords me the confidence that I can add tremendous value to your students.
