About Emily Hogan

I am currently completing my master's degree in occupational therapy at Indiana State University. If someone would have told me this before my freshman year of college, I would have first asked them what occupational therapy was. It was not until the beginning of my sophomore year of college that I received a job at an occupational therapy clinic (to gain experience in healthcare) that I truly understood what it was. From learning the holistic view of the treatment to the creativity that can be applied, I was hooked and immediately knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to become an occupational therapist. I have had experience at an outpatient clinic that specializes in children with cerebral palsy and diagnoses in the like, at a skilled nursing facility, and at an outpatient rehabilitation clinic. My fieldwork experience includes a skilled nursing facility and a juvenile justice center during the didactic portion of the program. Following the didactic period, I will spend the following months at a children's clinic that specializes in autism and a hand-to-shoulder clinic. Following graduation, my goal is to seek employment at an outpatient clinic and to specialize in conditions/ injuries of the hand-to-shoulder and ultimately become a certified hand specialist.
