About Emily Johnson

Emily Johnson is responsible for developing training strategies, leading the instructional design team, and for overseeing leadership development and training programs at JCPenney. She also leads the Organizational Development team, optimizing performance management, talent selection and assessment practices. Emily and her team thrive on educating corporate, store, and international associates through a multi-platform approach that includes workshops, eLearnings, reference guides, and more. Her 21-year JCPenney career began as a Store Management Intern while completing her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing at Texas A&M University. Upon graduation, she’s held various roles in Planning & Allocation and Buying, becoming a Buyer in the Women’s Division. With her passion for developing people, Emily moved to Talent Development, and became a Director in 2013. Notable professional achievements include facilitating at the annual General Manager’s Conference and being a two-time recipient of the Company’s highest achievement, the Founders Award, in recognition for Sales and for developing what has become an esteemed Trainee & Intern program. And the most notable personal achievement is the honor of raising her two sons, Cole and Ty, alongside her husband, Brian, in Frisco, Texas.
