About Emily Johnson
I recently graduated from Northern Arizona University with two B.S. degrees in Biology and Chemistry from NAU focusing on environmental microbiology and biochemistry. I accepted a Medical Lab Technician position at NAU's moderate complexity, CLEA certified medical lab for 1.5 years as a hiatus from school to gain professional experience. There I performed biologic and chemical analyses on patient specimens, along with a range of other duties before returning to finish my degree. I also have 2 years of professional ecological wet lab research experience, and a developed proficiency in statistical data analysis and result communication, DNA analysis software, and techniques such as light and scanning electron microscopy, DNA extraction and sequencing, and various plant tissue analyses. Currently I am enjoying working at Willow-Witt Ranch; gaining hands on environmental stewardship and sustainable food production experience and considering possible next steps in my career. I am applying master's programs for fall '23 and exploring employment options in the field of sustainable development.
