About Emily Nicholson

With over 4 years of experience in wilderness addictions treatment, I am a passionate and skilled Program Therapist at Enviros WSA. My core competencies include designing and facilitating therapeutic wilderness excursions, leading interdisciplinary treatment teams, and initiating and implementing program improvements. My mission is to help young adults overcome their addictions and achieve their mental health goals through experiential and evidence-based interventions. In my current role, I oversee the therapeutic impact of a 90-day wilderness addictions treatment program for young males, aged 18-24. I identify opportunities to enhance program delivery, such as creating a new structure of interdisciplinary treatment teams to address the needs associated with program expansion. I also provide recommendations for new procedures and policies, as well as training guides and resources. I co-design and facilitate bi-annual staff trainings for 32 staff, using my ability to understand and meet the needs of the program and further program development. Additionally, I collect and use data and outcomes to inform priority areas and evaluate the program's effectiveness. In my previous role as an Addiction Support Worker, I gained valuable skills in mentoring junior staff, collaborating with internal and external partners, and communicating effectively with a diverse team.
