About Emily Perry

I have extensive experience working with children from 3 months to 17 years of age, and I am qualified to teach Primary, Junior and Intermediate students including those with special needs. I believe in teaching equitably and holistically so that all students can learn in their own way. I create a positive, accepting, safe classroom environment and community, which is facilitated by utilizing restorative practice circles, rapport building, as well as collaborative learning strategies and activities. I have worked directly with students who have: learning, developmental and physical disabilities; behavioural and mental health disorders; who are English Language Learners and who have special needs. I am capable and successful in applying a variety of strategies to ensure the needs of all students, through differentiated instruction are met. As an educator, I provide the motivation, direction, tools and learning skills that students need to succeed not only in school, but also in their lives. I have completed a Grade 1 LTO at Palgrave Public School. I have also completed a Grade 6 LTO, a Grade 2 ISSP support, a Grade 5 LTO, and 2 full year Kindergarten LTOs at Ray Lawson Public School, a Balanced Calendar School in Peel. Additionally, completed a Grade 3 LTO at Caledon Central Public School. I am an Elementary Occasional Teacher for the Peel District School Board, teaching students from Kindergarten – Grade 8. I was a Grade 3/4 teacher at a private world International Baccalaureate (IB) school, teaching both the Ontario curriculum and the IB curriculum. I was an Elementary Occasional Teacher for Upper Grand District School Board, York Region District School Board and at two private world IB schools for students in Kindergarten through to Grade 8. I have also been a Head Teacher for students from 15 months to 6 years of age at an Academic Learning Centre. Additionally, I have tutored many students, where most of the pupils had learning disabilities and developmental disabilities. I was fortunate to complete a Bachelor of Education Degree along with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, concurrently, which provided me with the opportunity to have several teaching placements over the five years spent at Laurentian University.
