About Emily Primack

I started in CA and traveled to DC for college, NYC for grad school and then to Israel where I gained valuable fieldwork experience with asylum seekers and refugees that shaped my professional mindset and goals. Back in CA, I gained development experience (money not tech!) at HIAS, an organization providing vital services to refugees and asylum seekers around the world and advocating for their fundamental rights so they can rebuild their lives. Combining my program and development experiences, I write successful grant proposals and reports to secure funding for lifesaving work. More background on me: With more than a decade of experience working in the nonprofit sector and two years with the United Nations, I have worn many hats: program manager, education specialist, partnership coordinator, grant writer and event planner. These roles have allowed me to successfully develop and implement sustainable educational, legal and medical projects for vulnerable communities. Key achievements include:• Creating a higher education program (w/scholarship) enabling hundreds of asylum seekers to attend university and/or vocational training in Israel;• Developing a smartphone app for the U.N. to provide current information to organizations and refugees;• Raising $1M+ for NGOs that provide crucial programming for vulnerable populations including women and girls, youth, and LGBTQI+;• Leading rapid data collection for U.N. Livelihood's Strategy (2017) and,• Co-authoring curricula for domestic violence prevention community training program.
