About Emily Rice

Experience In my current position with the University of Tennessee Undergraduate Research Program, I have been able to work as a team and individually on the design and testing of two projects. These projects are listed below. • ROPS – Roll Over Protective Structure- This involved testing different forces to accurately measure the folding capabilities of the ROPS on its specific tractor. It also involved using computer animated design to create different parts on this structure. • ISTVS Track Competition – The International Society for Terrain-Vehicle Systems has been working with my advisor Paul Ayers to design a possible small-scale off-road track to test different possible situations. On this project, I have looked over the main construction of the track along with the testing of different possible soils that will be used. Outside of school, I have been able to experience first hand the design and testing of projects at Lynchburg Machine Tool. As a fabricator and assistant, I was able to read production designs, run basic shop machines, and learn the process behind each project.
