About Emily Riglar

I am a physiotherapist with a strong interest in the management of patients with complex presentations requiring high level clinical reasoning. My philosophy is that all patients should understand not only their condition but how to manage it long term for management to be successful. I am also strongly committed to the ongoing education of physiotherapists, including those who have postgraduate qualifications. I have a commitment to life long learning. I have completed a Masters in Clinical Education and Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. I have also completed a Leadership Victoria course and will become one of the "Build the Ultimate Physiotherapy Clinic" alumni in 2021. My Masters research project -"How do Clinical Educators use the Assessment of Physiotherapy Practice tool in the workplace" was presented and won the Clinician's prize for the Education Stream at the 2019 APA conference and also received First Prize for the graduating cohorts oral presentations for Masters of Clinical Education 2019. My special interest in education is for patients and physiotherapists alike. As the chair of the Victorian Branch of the APA Educators group I hope that I can influence this more broadly, as well as with my patients and providing excellent clinical support and mentoring for my employees. Clinically, I enjoy treating patients with persistent presenting complaints, including those with Rheumatological disorders or those with musculoskeletal presentations on a background of chronic neurological disorders. As an employer I enjoy mentoring younger staff, helping develop high level clinical reasoning skills and excellent communication strategies to promote the underlying values of patient education and self management.
