Background

About Emily Tran

I am an undergraduate researcher at Florida State University pursuing a B.S. in Psychology (Honors) with a minor in Social Welfare. My research spans clinical, cognitive, and social psychology, with a focus on mental health, resilience, emotion regulation, and the impact of identity-based discrimination and systemic inequities on anxiety, depression, and trauma-related outcomes. I have hands-on experience with VR-based social cognition studies, Continuous Flash Suppression, postural sway assessments, EEG and cognitive-affective tasks, eye-tracking and facial coding with iMotions, and data analysis using SPSS and Excel. My work investigates how cognitive and emotional processes interact with social and environmental stressors to shape psychological outcomes in marginalized populations, and I aim to translate these findings into culturally responsive interventions that promote resilience and equity. Beyond research, I engage in applied experiences supporting older adults, trauma survivors, and crisis intervention, integrating scientific inquiry with real-world impact to advance mental health equity.
