About Emily Veatch

I received my BA from UC Berkeley in 2016, and earned a Paralegal Certificate from PCC in March 2022 with a 4.0 GPA. During the COVID-19 shutdown, I applied and was accepted to PCC's Paralegal Certificate Program, with an end date of March, 2022. While my focus was on criminal and family law, I studied other areas of law generally, learned several different legal software programs, and enrolled in litigation, ethics, and interviewing and investigating courses. I started work at Victim Rights Law Center in January 2022 as a Paralegal Intern, then transitioned into a contract role with the VRLC part-time in April 2022. As of December 2023, I have accepted a role as a full-time paralegal with the Direct Services Team at the VRLC. My internship work included legal research and review, most notably for a Technical Assistance project compiling resources for elders and adults with disabilities in various states; support for the education and immigration attorneys in various projects; and an expansion of a sample pleading bank for victim-specific cases. In my contract role and full-time employment for the VRLC, my tasks have included: initial client intake and screening, drafting releases and retainers, filing for/retrieving police reports and other official documentation, filing U-Visa and T-Visa applications for the immigration team, various mailing projects for clients, maintaining client files and correspondence, and other administrative tasks.
