About Emily Welbourn

Hardworking, conscientious, reliable and organised individual looking to fulfil a career in Costume/Fashion Design surrounding Design/Manufacture, and/or Pattern Cutting. I have been interested in Fashion and Textiles since the age of 11 when I was able to create my first embroidered mini-quilt design describing the theme 'Under the Sea'. It was after High School that I managed to get a Saturday job at a local clothes shop which saw me gain experience in the retail fashion industry. I also attended College where I studied for a BTEC National Diploma in Fashion and Clothing, a course I enjoyed thoroughly and in which I was awarded 'Student of the Year' for, two years running. It was my found passion for Design that led me to attend Cambridge School of Art where I studied and achieved a BA (Hons) Degree in Fashion Design, graduating with an Upper Second Class Honours. It was from University that I started to specialise in Bridalwear, gaining a work placement at Terry Fox Ltd. I was then offered a job as a Seamstress at Richard Designs Ltd, where I later became a Fabric/Pattern Cutter, and where I now work as a Bridalwear Designer. More recently I have taken an interest in Costume Design and manufacture, and hope to gain experience within this sector.
