About Emma Adams

I am currently a fourth-year Honors Student working toward my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University. While earning my Environmental Engineering degree at Colorado State University, I have been most encouraged by the possibility of working in the overlap between engineering and human livelihood. In my extracurriculars I have had the opportunity of seeing, first-hand, how engineering functions in this overlap. During the 2021 summer I worked as an intern for an environmental engineering consulting firm where I saw how river modeling can save lives, families, and homes. Through my Water Engineering for International Development class and involvement in Engineers Without Borders, I have seen how water is life and how access to clean water is a revolutionary improvement in communities around the world. This is how I strive to conduct my career. I want to make a difference in people’s lives with my knowledge in engineering. I have loved getting to explore many aspects of engineering and am energized at the prospect of starting my career. Some skills I have gained through my education and internship thus far include proficiency in excel and word, as well as familiarity/practice with HEC-HMS, MATLAB, AutoCAD, and GIS. I also have a lot of experience with collaboration and communication. I have held several leadership positions in my sorority including serving on the marketing team and as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion chair on our executive board. Furthermore, I am a supervisor at a coffee shop in my school's library, constantly improving my leadership, creativity, and interpersonal skills. Lastly, I have been pushed by the Honors Program to seek knowledge outside of my major, promoting well-rounded success in my education and future career.
