About Emma Avery

I believe that it is imperative to advocate on the behalf of that person ensuring they have equality and opportunity within our society and community that will enrich their own lives. I have extensive experience within the community service sector, primarily disabilities where my role has been varied. My responsibility was the daily organisation of the Day Centre including client assessments, risk management, client progress notes, rostering, Day Centre programs, camps/outings, banking, budgeting, respite funding, liaising with allied organisations, communication with staff, clients, carer and families, engaging and implementing activities, conflict resolution, behavior management, mentoring prac students and new employees, computer literacy and the overall holistic wellbeing of the client. I have gained experience teaching students with additional needs, my role included development of IEP programs/goals/outcomes/strategies, student reporting, behavior management, computer literacy, communication and collaborating with management, allied professionals, students, parents, carers and colleagues, term/daily planning and organization, student welfare, working with children who have complex health issues, budgeting and the implementation of individual therapy plans. My previous position required a high level of integrity. Family Support is based in the prisons family centers and is responsible for providing a range of support and assistance to clients, these support include but not limited to managing prison visits, advocating with allied orgainsations and the Department of Justice on behalf of the clients, case manage individual clients and provide relevant referrals that facilitate empowerment and individual change, support letters, provide emergency relief and emotional support to visitors and there children, accurate data and statistical computer records, embrace and acknowledge a wide range of visitor diversity.
