About Emma Baas

Looking back at a career of 23 years as an experienced DJ and played records in more then 20 countries all around the world. My life was about to change for good when I became a mom in 2010, I devoted myself to motherhood completely. After a few years, it started itching again and picked only the nicest gigs. No more performing on the conveyor belt but only the cherry on the cake. This turned out to be the best balance between a normal life and DJ life for me. In 2020 i started an amazing new adventure as Co-founder at Zainha.com, making personal development accessible and fun. Becoming a mother was a huge, complicated but interesting life transition and rocked every fiber in my being. This period marks the beginning where I started to look deep inside for the first time and noticed that there was a lot of work to be done. This search was a great motivation to build the foundation for this website. But had yet to discover after a long career as an artist where my other talents lie. At the Zwarte Hond, I got the chance to discover these. In a short time, I have already gained a lot of new experience here and feel right at home. I always had a long-held desire to go back to college and finally explore my interest in food and nutrition. In 2022 I started my study: Natural food and herbal medicine. One of the reasons I want to gain more knowledge is my interest in the West's dislocated relationship with food and tucked-away basic knowledge of nature. And I think it is important to raise more awareness about how we are handling our food and what we stick to our forks. The whole food industry needs to be transparent and we have to take it completely under the microscope. Our industrial food system affects public health in many ways and brings a lot of suffering to the animals. We need to build new systems and a cultural awareness to provide us with the food we actually need.
