About Emma Bateman

I am an innovative communications professional with nine years’ experience in journalism and in marketing and communications. I am passionate about keeping communities informed. I cut out the jargon, adapt copy to suit different target audiences, and create engaging content across multiple platforms. I am experienced in creating communications strategies, driving marketing campaigns, gaining positive media coverage, and in producing strong, engaging content a variety of audiences can access and understand. I am an emerging leader. I am a 2019 Gippsland Community Leadership Program fellow, and have acting management experience. I train staff in media relations, and advise management and the executive on communications issues. I have written successful business tenders, discussion papers that advocate for change, and multiple annual reports for my current employer. One of my proudest achievements to date is producing the Our New Home exhibition in partnership with Warragul photographer Lauren Murphy. Our New Home is a photographic exhibition that features the lived experience of migrant and refugee women. Latrobe Community Health Service commissioned the exhibition, paving the way for myself and Lauren to capture the stories and imagery of 18 incredible women. It is projects like this, which influence people and create positive change, that continue to drive me in my role as a communications professional.
