About Emma C.

Originally from Cork I went to study Communications in Dublin City University in 1998. While studying, I worked as a telephone interviewer with MRC and later, Research Solutions (Lansdowne/Millward Brown Market Researchers). I went on to do a masters in Film in UCD. In 2005 I returned to Market Research, working as a Field Supervisor with Millward Brown. I headed the CATI (telephone interviewing) unit at Behaviour & Attitudes for 17 years. Managing interviewers, liaising with researchers and clients and helping in all aspects of fieldwork and motivating teams. Having always had an interest in Data Protection I completed the Data Protection Practitioner course with the ICS in 2016 and became a member of ADPO (Association of Data Protection Officers). I am now in the role of DPO, Compliance and Contracts Manager with Ipsos B&A. Ipsos B&A is Ireland’s largest Market Research company, and has built a reputation for creative thinking about strategic marketing and branding. Ipsos B&A is a full service agency, offering a comprehensive suite of quantitative and qualitative methodologies. DPO and compliance role involves keeping up to date with legislation and developments that might have an impact on privacy and confidentiality in the world of market research. For me privacy and protecting personal data is of paramount importance and essential in research. We rely so much on the goodwill of those who participate in our studies and the least we can do is look after their data and ensure we have privacy by default and design embedded in our processes.
