About Emma Davy

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of Victoria in 2010 and my PhD in Chemistry, also from the University of Victoria, in 2015 where I specialized in synthetic organic and inorganic chemistry. From 2015-2016, I held the position of research post-doctoral fellow at the University of Ottawa's Centre for Catalysis Research and Innovation. My expertise is in the area of chemical education in post-secondary settings. Experiences include- Teaching Assistant in second and third year tutorials and laboratories in spectroscopy and inorganic chemistry (University of Victoria)- Tutor for the Centre for Accessible Learning (formerly the RCSD)(University of Victoria)- Teaching Assistant Consultant with the Centre for Teaching and Learning (University of Victoria)- Sessional Instructor for second year inorganic chemistry (University of Victoria)- MCAT preparation course instructor (Prep101 and Wize)- Faculty member and teaching fellow for 10 unique courses in chemistry, physics, and communication (Quest University Canada)- Sessional Instructor for third year organic spectroscopy and fourth year organic chemistry (Thompson Rivers University)- Science Education Specialist with the Skylight Centre for Science Teaching and Learning and Department of Chemistry (University of British Columbia) I am an expert in curriculum and course design, innovative learning technology platforms, and laboratory-based chemical education. I am well-versed in assessment of educational developments and interventions including surveys, focus groups, large-scale data analysis, and reporting on success. In addition to my teaching experiences, I have extensive experience in institutional service and leadership and am active in the scholarship of chemical pedagogy having published and presented on work in the area. I am the recipient of multiple awards for teaching, mentoring and advising, and research. Finally, I am dedicated to volunteer service and regularly serve as a mentor for young individuals and women in STEM fields. I am an active and effective collaborator. I am dedicated to equity in academic sectors and regularly mentor and collaborate with undergraduate and graduate students and I continue to engage with my field of study to continue to learn and improve as a scholar and practitioner.
