About Emma Estes

I am a recent alumnus of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Imaging with a secondary major in Urban Design and Architecture Studies. Using my creative direction, photography, and special effects makeup skills I design and execute fictional characters that build my narrative-based photography projects. Most recently, I completed my Department of Photography and Imaging (DPI) 2024 senior thesis project, entitled 1.5° Celsius. This body of work explores how humans must mutate to the future consequences of global climate change (you can see this work, along with various other projects, linked in my bio). I earned a second major in Urban Design and Architecture Studies. Through this portion of my education I focused on environmental design and the functionality of public spaces and parks. Most notably, studying under Jeff Murphy, of MBB Architects, I designed and modeled a climate resilient, passive home that specifically aimed to protect against the flooding issues of Rockaway Beach. This project developed my ability to design with both resilience and aesthetics in mind.
