About Emma Goodwin

Senior in Animal Sciences in the University of Missouri's Pre-Veterinary Scholars program, minoring in Spanish. In addition to my Bachelor’s of Animal Sciences, I am pursuing a DVM from the University of Missouri’s College of Veterinary Medicine following matriculation in the Scholars program. My ultimate goal is to practice large animal veterinary medicine, treating both food animals and equine patients. My passion for animal production and agriculture comes from my completion of the USDA’s AgDiscovery program and my ongoing undergraduate coursework. Particularly, courses in livestock nutrition and reproduction captivated my interest, inspiring me to reinforce my knowledge in these fields as a teaching assistant. As I pursue a career in food animal medicine, I aim to apply my knowledge of reproduction, nutrition, and physiology to improve herd health and productivity. Ultimately, I hope to equally help animals, and the producers who provide the public with safe, sustainable sources of animal protein. I've also gained valuable experience shadowing at equine clinics, training horses throughout high school, and caring for the University of Missouri's teaching herd as I pursue a certificate in Equine Sciences and Management. These experiences fostered my passion for equine sports medicine and rehabilitation, which I also hope to incorporate into my veterinary career.
