About Emma Hellthaler

My favorite hobby has always been movies. Writing I do because I can't help it. There are three screenplays under my belt I'm willing to pull out and edit obsessively until the day someone buys them. My collection of expository essays grows for fun along with some fictional short stories. After running an historic dive bar in Seattle for five years, I've decided my time is better spent on things that don't make me wildly depressed. This time did allow me to develop my leadership skills, maintenance and repair abilities, and the most useful of managerial knowledge - how to navigate impressive egos. After eighteen years behind a bar, drunk people make me really sad now. I'd rather hang drywall or pour concrete than bartend again, but any variety of writing or editing is what I'm after. Senator Karen Keiser chose me as her Session Aide after I applied on a fluke. I've always been a political busy body thanks to growing up around folks like Walt Crowley and Ross Lavroff, but all I had were my years in customer service, managerial experience, and hope to get me a job in the Capitol. It was a rough session. Senator Keiser opted for me to assist her through the end of her career. It's been wonderfully eye-opening and slightly depressing, but I really love tangibly helping people in Washington by connecting them with state resources. Working for a powerhouse like Senator Keiser has been an incredible experience that I wish would continue through at least one more session.
