About Emma Johnson

I'm deeply passionate about the field of death and dying. After experiencing profound loss in my own life, I set out to understand and support others through their end-of-life experiences and grief. With a background in diverse environments - from engaging children at The Works Museum to supporting LGBTQ+ elders, veterans, and families in New York City - I've grown in empathy, resilience, and cultural humility. I'm eager to apply these skills to hospice and palliative care, facilitating connections between individuals, families, and resources. After graduating summa cum laude from the City College of New York's Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership as a double major in Anthropology and Sociology, with a minor in Women's Studies, I am moving on to pursue a master's degree in social work. The University of Minnesota’s MSW program is my next step in this journey; there, I aim to deepen my understanding of social injustices and develop practical skills to create a more just and compassionate society. I'm ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives and deaths of those who need it most.
