About Emma Luke

As a designer, researcher and educator for over 19 years, I have an extensive background in industry across wearable technology, watches, jewellery, product and production design. I have worked in global brands and independently in my own labels exhibiting my work at Melbourne Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and in Vogue Magazine. My practice explores the of encoding of value through data, materiality, aesthetics, and personalisation to inform the development of holistic wearable technology and enduring post digital personal objects and spaces for humans and environmental health and wellbeing. This approach aims to challenge digital obsolescence and the loss of lasting cultural narratives manifested in aesthetically sustainable, multifaceted design outcomes that foreground preciousness, longevity, intuitive technological interventions, post-digital craft practice and personalisation.An educator for over 19 years I have taught product design, service design, sustainability, installation design, jewellery fabrication and wearable technology across multiple academic institutions. With over 15 years of experience in vocational, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching I am passionate about new modalities of post digital design practice, Somaesthetics, wearables, meaningful assistive health technology and interfaces between the digital and physical world.
