About Emma Pidduck

I help make environmental data accessible and actionable for users around the world, drawing on 10 years of experience in program coordination, project management, and international data policy. My work focuses on helping people access and use this data to solve real-world problems. I’ve been lucky to work with international teams to create policies and strategies that make environmental data open and inclusive. With a PhD in Physical Oceanography & Marine Geochemistry, I bring a strong scientific foundation to my work, combining technical expertise with strategic developments. My experience in project management includes leading cross-departmental and multidisciplinary initiatives, ensuring complex projects are delivered efficiently and effectively while balancing technical priorities with user needs. At ECMWF, I’ve contributed to shaping open data policies and the Future Data Services Strategy, ensuring user needs remain at the heart of decision-making. I’m passionate about collaboration, mentorship, and fostering diversity in STEMM, whether through mentoring in Women in Geospatial or leading initiatives that bring diverse voices to the table.
