About Emma Ross

Hi I’m Emma, I lead a global team of 8 Statisticians developing digital solutions to improve energy reliability, affordability and sustainability. We put together the data strategy to help scientists and business leaders unlock the value of data. We do this by applying mathematics and statistics towards improving decision making at Shell. I bring a unique combination of deep technical expertise, analytics management experience, and an ability to lead organizational change. I’m passionate about mentorship, building diverse teams, and storytelling with data. I believe that when we reduce inequities in the workforce and support teams effectively we can power progress towards creating sustainable communities and promoting responsible consumption and production. I bring 10 years of experience as a Statistics and Optimization consultant, holding a PhD in 'Statistics and Operations Research with Industry' and an MA in Mathematics. I’ve published 20 peer-reviewed articles on the application of Decision Science to a range of disciplines: from ocean engineering to power systems utilization. Primary skills: data science, decision science, leadership, strategy, process architecture, data visualization, storytelling with data, quality assurance. Academic expertise: statistics, operations research, digital transformation.
