About Emma Sheehan

I am a highly motivated and dedicated fourth-year biomedical science student currently enrolled at UCC and MTU. My program provides me with a comprehensive understanding of various health sciences, including but not limited to biochemistry, microbiology, and haematology. With my extensive lab experience, I am confident and proficient in performing theoretical and practical lab work, maintaining a 1.1 average. Professionally I worked with Aspira, a recruiting company, in which I developed my communication and IT skills as I had to contact potential candidates, parse their CVs, and update the system accordingly. During my time in the work force, I developed experience in collaborating with professionals in various environments. Beyond my academic pursuits, I have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills by actively engaging with the UCC Science Society. Having served as chairperson, I successfully transitioned the society back to full on campus events from the previous hybrid format. Additionally, I organized a ball for over 1,200 attendees with a budget of for all SEFs students in UCC, showcasing my creativity, problem-solving abilities, and impeccable time-management and organizational skills. My efforts have earned me recognition in the form of a Bene Merenti award for exceptional contributions to campus and student life, as well as a WiSTEM 2D Bursary from Johnson and Johnson, which included scholarship and mentorship for the 2021/22 academic year.
