About Emma Spencer

I am a secondary school Mathematics teacher who is passionate about improving the life chances of students in my local area. I was promoted to Lead Teacher for Key Stage 4 Mathematics in my RQT year, partly due to success with KS4 results. Since then, I have gained extensive experience with writing and developing new schemes of learning and adapting existing ones to fit the needs of children. I have developed the schemes of work for Years 9 and 10 and work closely with other leads in the department to develop Years 7, 8 and 11. I regularly analyse data and assessment and can identify with purpose where specific needs require intervention and support to ensure all students make at least good progress. I have a close working relationship with the teacher training provider at Manchester Metropolitan University and currently lead on the training provision within our department. Our department is well affiliated with the university and often a first choice when sending student teachers to train with us. As a middle leader, I have worked with a local high performing academy on a leadership and management course to develop my skills within my current role. My responsibilities include; writing schemes of work, performance management, data and assessment, implementing intervention and quality assurance within the department.
