About Emma Sullivan

I’m a young, creative professional with a dedication to social justice and solidarity. Through my education and experience, I have cultivated a strong combination of writing talent and passionate advocacy to work for a better world. As a kid growing up, I wanted to be a writer. I drafted my own stories in the college-ruled lines of my notebook, pairing these stories with my own original illustrations. I was ten. As much as I enjoyed it, it’s a good thing that didn’t work out. It wasn’t what I really wanted. What did work out, however, was a strong connection with words that has followed me throughout my life. I’ve had a few different jobs across my career. I’ve met all sorts of people, from my resilient coworkers in retail, to my compassionate volunteer leaders, to my brilliant mentors in the legal field. In every one of these positions, with every one of these individuals, I have learned a new way of communication that I carry with me. My experiences in the labor world in particular have shown me the true bravery and power it takes to stand up against injustice, and have inspired me to bring that strength with me wherever I go. I have learned how to think outside the box and how to ask the right questions. Estoy aprendiendo, cada día, lo que realmente significa usar palabras para crear el cambio. So, armed with my pen and metaphorical sword, I use my communications background and my socio-political studies to advocate justice, and I excitedly await every opportunity to do so. When I’m not trying to fight every battle at once, you can find me running, crocheting my entire wardrobe, or browsing my local library!
