About Emma Swank

I am currently a Guest Service Manager at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. My Zoo is ranked the 7 zoo in the nation by TripAdvisor. My whole life I have been in search of my great adventure. Growing up I read constantly, and this gave me the opportunity to go anywhere, and be anything. As an adult I still read constantly, but I am now able to go on these adventures in my own life, and through my major I am able to make sure that others have the best experience they can whenever they leave their home. The most important experience that I have had in my professional life was working through the Red Cross and the AmeriCorps program. Through these amazing organizations I was able to go to West Virginia, New Jersey, and New York to help with the relief efforts after Hurricane Sandy. This experience taught me about what hard work really was, and how to think quickly on my feet. I became aware of the Hotel and Hospitality Major at IPFW through a friend who was part of that program. When I looked into the program it seemed like the perfect place for me. Through this program I could live anywhere I want, and help people have a wonderful experience while traveling, whether it is across the world or just going out to eat in the next town over. In the Hotel and Hospitality major I am also able to put to use some of my most treasured skills: my creativity and ingenuity. In the past my creativity has been used successfully in marketing events and creating displays to show off the organizations where I have worked. My ingenuity has come in handy in every aspect of my professional and personal life. I know that these skills have been put to great use in the past and I hope they will continue to benefit me. I am so excited for my future and what adventures are in store for me as I look forward to growing as a professional and as a person.
