About Emma Thompson
My journey to a career in Law was not a straight-forwarded one. Finished UNI in 2012 with no clear direction. Started volunteering in Welfare Benefits supporting Adults to make DLA, PIP and ESA applications. I then became an Advocate supporting disabled adults with challenges to Health and Social Care for a local voluntary service. It was from there that I developed an interest in supporting children with disabilities. During this time I was a session worker for a local Short Breaks service working with children with disabilities and volunteering for an ASD charity working with families of disabled children across Education, Health and Care. From there I met people who introduced me to the area of SEN Law and the rest they say is history. I have worked in SEN law for the last 6 years and have now qualified as an Education Solicitor this September (2024). I work on behalf of families and children with SEN. I have interests in working with children with varying individual needs, including those with conditions such as FASD, CVI, Sight loss, Attachment Disorders to name a few.
