About Emma Thompson

I’m an educational leader driven by the belief that every learner - students and staff alike - deserve the conditions to thrive. As the Assistant Principal at Narrarrang Primary School, I’m helping shape a new learning community from the ground up: one built on Connection, Compassion, and Courage. My work bridges the strategic and the human - where policy meets practice, and where vision becomes reality in classrooms that are purposeful, inclusive, and joyful. Throughout my career, I’ve led improvements at both school and system levels, serving as an Education Improvement Leader, Learning Specialist, and Leadership Partner. I have translated Department policy and initiatives into meaningful, evidence-informed action, utilising relational leadership to move teams forward. I’m known for building cultures where people feel seen, supported, and challenged to grow. I take pride in connecting research with evidence-informed practice to create coherent, knowledge-rich learning environments that empower both students and staff. Looking ahead, I’m excited about contributing to the broader educational landscape through principalship, system leadership, and thoughtful collaboration - sharing what we’re learning at Narrarrang about how schools can flourish when community, evidence, and purpose align. If you share an interest in courageous, evidence-informed school improvement or love talking curriculum, culture, and change, I’d be thrilled to connect.
