About Emma Thurau
I am a current Ph.D. Student at the Graduate Center (CUNY) and New York Consortium of Evolutionary Primatology (NYCEP) under the supervision of Dr. Jessica Rothman in the Hunter College Nutritional Ecology Lab. My research focuses on how plant secondary metabolites and nutrients impact the feeding ecology of black and white colobus monkeys in Kibale National Park, Uganda using cutting-edge techniques in metabolomics and bioinformatics. My previous experience includes researching how plant secondary metabolites impact the feeding ecology of diademed sifakas in Tsinojoarivo, Madagascar while completing my M.A. at Northern Illinois University. I am currently a professor of introductory biological anthropology courses at Hunter College and have previous experience teaching introductory anthropology courses at Northern Illinois University.
