Resourcing Business Partner at European Metal Recycling sourcing talent across the UK for a one of the worlds leading metal recyclers. I have over 15 years recruitment experience sourcing talented candidates for both internal and external stakeholders. EMR has a heritage dating back to the 1950s when the Sheppard Group was established in the North West of England. From a single UK business to over 170 sites worldwide, EMR has been on quite a journey. Over the decades the EMR family has welcomed businesses across 3 continents, bringing together a number of complementary businesses to create ‘one of the world’s largest metal recycling companies’.Today we are still 100% privately owned by the Sheppard family, but our coverage now spans much further afield, encompassing the UK, Europe and the USA. Our core business is still metal recycling. However we have diversified into the recycling of plastics, environmental consultancy and energy production, to better meet the challenges of today’s society and offer our customers a full service package. With an annual turnover in excess of £2bn and a net asset base of over £500m, you can be confident of dealing with a company that’s here to stay! Whilst we’re one of the largest metal recycling businesses in the world, we also like to keep it local and our 170 yards offer our customers convenient access and great, local service. Our sites also include a number of strategically placed and international trading offices as well as deep sea and short sea dock locations for export. Globally, we have invested in equipment to make sure that we can accommodate the recycling requirements of our customers, efficiently and effectively. This is an ongoing process and we are continually updating the key plant and machinery. However, if you were in any doubt whether we can cope, we probably have more shredders, shears and balers than any other player in the industry as well as: • Over 500 trucks • Over containers of all shapes and sizes • Over 3,600 employees to service our customers’ needs We also have sites that specialise in complex separation processes as well as the recycling of refrigerators, trains, cable, marine platforms, ships and even aircraft carriers.
