About Emmanuel Cocom

Programming has been something that has always interested me ever since I stumbled upon a worn out "C for Dummies" book in my Freshman Year of college. I never had an interest in computer science but when I opened and read those very first pages a curiosity emerged in me and I could not stop reading it until I had read it all. I loved all the pieces and how they came together in one moment for a purpose defined by people themselves. Needless to say it did not end here. I began to write my own programs. I bought a couple related books and started taking computer science courses both at my university and online. I learned C, Java, SQL, Python, Github and then Javascript. I build programs by myself, with friends, and in my classes. I worked in a research team to make air quality forecasts for CSULA in-conjunction with NASA and LA City resulting in several publications and very promising results. I additionally took a part time job as a Teacher Assistant for several upper division machine learning courses at CSULA where I worked with hundreds of students over the course of 2 years. During this time I found a real passion for developing web applications (particularly using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and React). I find it both fun and challenging and like to spend my leisure time learning and building them. I hope to find remote work that will allow me to both contribute and where I can grow as a programmer.
