About Emmeline Taylor
Author, broadcaster, and consultant, Emmeline Taylor is Professor of Criminology at City, University of London. Originally from Manchester, she has gained substantial experience in criminological research and teaching having been employed in the public, private and academic sectors, and on three continents. Emmeline has expertise across a number of areas including retail risk and security, offender behaviours, surveillance technologies, armed robbery, and residential burglary. She is currently working on several projects to improve retail security, tackle violence towards staff, loss of goods and criminal damage. Professor Taylor has published extensively across these topics, including six books. The most recent is Armed Robbers: Identity and Cultural Mythscapes in the Lucky Country (Oxford University Press, 2022). Emmeline is the host of Retail Crime Uncovered - the go to podcast for anything and everything retail crime related. She is a regular guest on national television and has had her research featured on many high profile shows including: The One Show (BBC1), Supermarket Secrets (BBC1), History's Greatest Heists (History Channel), Daybreak (ITV), The Wright Stuff (ITV), Frontline Fightback (BBC1), BBC Politics and BBC Breakfast (BBC1). Professor Taylor is a member of the government’s National Retail Crime Strategy Group (NRCSG) chaired by the Minister of State for Crime and Policing and has worked on multiple 'task and finish' groups led by the Home Office with the explicit aim of improving outcomes for victims and achieving more effective criminal justice responses to crime. She is a member of the Home Office Expert Panel for the annual Commercial Victimization Survey (CVS). Professor Taylor has also recently been appointed Chair of the Business Crime Reduction Partnerships (BCRPs) National Standards Board.
