About Emmet Mross

I recently graduated from Minneapolis Community and Technical College with a degree in Computer Support and Network Admin. I currently work as an Architecture Analyst at Optum where I support in maintaining HPE servers. My team handles hardware and base configuration using an in house API for baremetal provisioning and configuration management tools such as Puppet and Ansible. To stay current, and meet internal requirements (family and friends) I also maintain a selfhosted homelab. My homelab allows me to work on a variety of subjects from routing/switching up to server administration. I am currently working with virtualization (VMware ESXI, Proxmox), Linux (Debian and Redhat based server distros), Windows Server 2019/2016, and firewalls (pfSense). Example projects: Wireguard server Automated home media server based in Docker Ansible tower deployment for automated updating and provisioning SNMP monitoring with Observium System monitoring/alerting with VictoriaMetrics and Prometheus Weather monitoring using Raspberry PIs to export data to InfluxDB with dashboards built in Grafana Game servers Windows Server AD with connected clients My long term goal is system admin work preferably with a Linux focus.
