About Emrah Ergene
Coming from a piano-performing background, I focused on my studies in musicology at the graduate level. My Ph.D. thesis is on international piano competitions, which aims to reveal the socio-economic relations of competition institutions within the classical music domain. During my Ph.D. education, I have adopted an interdisciplinary approach that mainly helps to synthesize various data types and shows the competition institution from the view of musicology and sociology. Besides musicological research, I am enthusiastic about lecturing on subjects such as the theory of music, the history of music, and piano as well. According to my opinion, theory and practice are inseparable parts of music. Thus, I continue to perform as a chamber musician and accompanist alongside my theoretical research. I’m also contributing to open science as a technical editor of an academic journal.
