Background
About Enea Dimitris Tseno
Hi, my name is Enea Dimitris Tseno, mostly known as Dimitris or just Di, and I am a Doctoral Researcher at Building Energy Research Group (BERG) at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. I hold a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, MSc degree in Low Energy Building Services Engineering and my PhD research focuses on Intelligent Digital Twins. More specifically, I am looking at how Physics-informed Neural Networks (PINNs) can be integrated to Digital Twins (DTs) of HVAC systems in order to build robust methodologies for establishing enhanced predictive energy management strategies. As part of my research, I am utilizing VR technology to host my PINN integrated DT. This innovative approach results in the VR world acting as the interface of the training and simulation environment of the DT, enabling immersive and interactive exploration of its behaviour and performance by everyone. Before starting my PhD, I had been working on Building Energy Simulations using a variety of tools both for compliance purposes in the UK and for establishing Net Zero Carbon strategies. Particularly for the second, my skills in Data Analytics and a variety of digital technologies, such as BI tools, Python, computational design, Grasshopper etc. have been extremely helpful. I am also a passionate coder who enjoys automating tasks and workflows. I am driven by enthusiasm and ambition of introducing low energy solutions and boosting innovation to the built environment for a sustainable development and I consider sustainability as the driver that should define every new technology, application and policy as well as individual’s habits. That ambition is being fuelled by my belief that the new generation of engineers must respond more strongly to the changes in the global market and have the passion to work towards that systemic change by showing environmental awareness and promoting well-being.
