Background

About Enrico Greco

I was born in Bronte, a town near Catania (Italy) in 1989, graduated magna cum laude in Technologies for Conservation of Cultural Heritage (BSc) and in Chemistry of Materials (MSc) at the University of Catania. From 2014 to 2017 I was PhD student in Chemical Sciences at University of Catania and, at the same time, I was visiting PhD student at Aix-Marseille University and CNRS (France), CNR (Italy), Peking University (China) and University of South Florida (US). In December 2017 I was awarded "cum laude" of International PhD in Chemical Sciences at University of Catania. From 2013 to 2017 I was National Secretary of the Italian Association of Conservation Scientists. In the last years I was invited speaker in many universities in Italy, China, Australia, Egypt, involved in many organizing and scientific committee of international meetings and co-supervisor of more than twenty thesis works at University of Catania, University of Palermo, Sapienza University of Rome (Italy) and Helwan University (Egypt). My fields of study mainly concern the characterization of ancient and modern materials by non-destructive and micro-destructive analysis (SEM-EDX, XRD, XPS, FT-IR, NMR, GC-MS) and the preparation of new materials for applications in various fields, especially nanostructured materials for the environmental protection. In the last years, the interest in food science has been moved mainly by the study of the paleo-diet in the Mediterranean area and in particular by the development of new analytical methods for the analysis of archaeological residues and their recognition.
