About Eri Suzuki

I am an urbanist with a strong belief that collective design can be an agent of positive change. While my projects at SITELAB range in scale from a stretch of sidewalk to a large neighborhood, I embrace tackling the complexities of designing public spaces and setting a stage for public life. As a senior associate at SITELAB, I lead a multi-disciplinary planning process towards entitlement for large projects such as 28-acre Pier 70 Waterfront Redevelopment and 80-acre San José Downtown West, a transit-oriented development at Diridon Station. Other projects include more tactical urban design responses to critical issues today: helping LavaMaeˣ realize a Pop-up Care Village that mobilizes the community to bring care services to the streets in San Francisco and re-examining the role of the public realm in downtown in the post-pandemic recovery for Downtown SF Public Real Action Plan. My love for cities grew over the academic and professional career that has taken me from Chicago, New York, Austin, to San Francisco. I am a licensed architect and serve as a co-chair for the SPUR Planning and Architecture Council.
