About Eric Albrecht

Prof. Dr. med Eric Albrecht trained at the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland. After completion of a fellowship in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management in Toronto, Canada, he became the Director of the Regional Anaesthesia program and the Clinical Research program at the Lausanne University Hospital. He holds certifications in Intensive Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Chronic Pain Medicine. His field of research includes meta-analyses and prospective trials on regional anaesthesia, acute postoperative pain, opioid-free anesthesia and sleep apnea syndrome. He is the principal author of more than 100 peer-reviewed articles published in high profile journals and three French-language books. These latter cover anesthesia, ultrasound guided regional anesthesia and chronic pain medicine, all published by Elsevier-Masson, and with translations in English, and Portuguese. Dr Albrecht also serves as associate editor for the journals Anaesthesia and Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. Finally, he is the past-chairman of the regional scientific subcommittee of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC), Board member of the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Therapy (ESRA), and member of the PROSPECT working group.
