About Eric Belk

I have been with Travelers for over 21 years (35 in the industry), most of which I have spent in a legal capacity supporting the company's Workers Compensation line, primarily on the Claims side of the house. I recently switched positions within the company, and now support the underwriting strategic and operations functions of the Workers Compensation LOB, including the overall profitability, growth and retention of the product line and consistency of all related underwriting initiatives. After breaking into the industry in the 1980s as a multi-line claim representative at Cigna, I eventually joined Cigna’s staff counsel operation in Baltimore. Later, I litigated workers compensation matters for a large Travelers’ primary panel counsel firm in Baltimore prior to joining St. Paul as a coverage attorney in 2002. As much as I liked coverage, I liked workers compensation better, and moved back into the workers compensation line in 2004. I graduated from the University of Baltimore, where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree magna cum laude, and obtained my law degree with honor from the University of Maryland. I live in Connecticut with my wife, five kids, seven guitars, forty-eight cameras (most of which actual work), and an assortment of woodworking equipment.
