About Eric Blanchard

I have been employed in the environmental engineering field for over 30 years. My first nine years were focused on hydrological evaluations, petroleum site decommissioning and phase I, II and environmental assessments. My duties working for a consulting firm included field evaluations, monitoring, supervision of various contractors and report writing. During my time as a consultant, I also obtained training and experience in the field of air quality (indoor air quality and stack/emission monitoring). Opportunities within the public sector presented a new challenge for me to specialize in the field of ambient air quality. My combined experience has put me in a position of technical expertise in the field of ambient and point source air quality monitoring, evaluation and reporting. I had the opportunity to help in the design and deploy the first provincial mobile ambient air quality unit. Auditing and performance evaluation of instrumentation both for the province and industry has also been one of my duties for this position. I have been mentoring industry and new staff in all aspects of air quality management and monitoring. One of my projects included the deployment of PC based data loggers and development of in-house web reporting using the most up to date database tools for air quality. I have been a member of the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (NBSCETT) since 1991(TN754). Also, I am a member of the certification review board for NBSCETT since 2010. My mother tongue is French and I can work in both official languages I represent the Province federally as the NB NAPS (National Area Pollution Surveillance) manager which involves negotiation of funding, reviews of emerging air quality technologies and scoping what other jurisdictions are doing in terms of air quality monitoring.
