About Eric Bott

Change management and project implementation professional with experience in workplace health and safety and violence prevention. My passion is in engaging others and forming cross-sectoral coalitions to achieve results. In my current role, I work with health care managers, educators, and front-line staff across Southern Alberta to implement harassment and violence prevention planning. This involves implementation of established screening processes, prevention strategies, and training in emergency response procedures. To achieve success, I have found that aligning values, and building awareness and desire with crucial partners is essential. Once I have the full support of leadership partners I facilitate on site training in Non-violent Crisis intervention with staff. Here again, I excel in leading engraining and dynamic instruction tailored to the various groups – including nurses, unit clerks, lab techs, physicians, and managers – that I instruct. In addition to the preceding project scope, I pursue opportunities to foster a strong health multidisciplinary health and safety culture. I have pursued partnerships with security and simulation experts within my organization and worked together to facilitate harassment and violence simulations. As a group we also presented the importance of, and positive results of our efforts at the eSim Symposium this year in Calgary. I also take advantage of many opportunities to present and discuss prevention planning with various leaders, Joint Workplace Health and Safety Committees, and I will be presenting at the Rural Emergency Conference in January of 2025. Prior to my current role, I worked for 12 years in Alberta Health Services Emergency Medical Services where I practiced emergency medicine in dynamic and unpredictable environments. With a focus on patient and family centred care, and trauma informed care, I provided empathetic and diligent care to citizens in and around Calgary. Throughout this stage, I grew in my self-leadership domain and pursued both an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate and a Degree in General Studies which I leveraged to pursue my current role.
